What Goes In, Must Come Out

Newton's law of gravity states that what goes up must go down.  I believe that what goes in, must come out.  If we feed our souls a daily diet of garbage, we are going to spew out garbage.  If we surround ourselves with negative people, we will find it hard not to become negative.  If we surround ourselves with people who swear constantly, we will find it hard not to swear too.   If we marry someone who constantly criticizes us, we become critical too.  If we hang around friends who are "Keep up with the Joneses" types, we will feel pressure to outdo them.  If we read books that are full of dark, depressing images, we might very well find ourselves getting depressed.  If we listen to music with a negative message, we will feel discouraged.

By the same token, if we seek out positive people, their pleasant demeanor starts to rub off on us.  If we marry someone who builds us up, we want to build others up.  If we seek out friends who rejoice with us in the good times, but comfort us in the bad times, we want to return the favour.   If we choose books to read that have a message of hope, then we start to become hopeful.  If we listen to music that inspires us, we will be uplifted.

So, feed your souls well.  For what goes in, must come out.
