What Beauty in a Setting Sun

It's almost dusk, the evening's come.
The sun descends, the birds have fled.
The day is long, the day is done.
What beauty in a setting sun.

Streaks of yellow and orange and red
Paint the horizon up ahead.
God's many creatures do abide
Underneath their canopy bed.

The artist works without a guide.
He strokes the brush from side to side.
An endless canvass he's begun.
He paints the sky -- so vast, so wide.

Then one by one the colours run.
The twilight is about to come.
The day is long, the day is done.
What beauty in a setting sun.
